Dr. Jeff Demas
Associate Professor and Director of Television
Dr. Demas teaches video production, media ethics and regulation, principles of interviewing and media writing. Research interests include television meteorology, media law and telecommunications policy.

Dr. Eric Jones
Assistant Professor
Dr. Jones teaches broadcast news, radio production, media criticism and audience analysis, media writing, case studies in media and other media studies courses. Research interests include critical cultural approaches to media use among religious audiences, self-help media and media literacy.

Dr. Jean Kelly
Assistant Professor
Dr. Kelly teaches media writing, publication and web design, public relations techniques and magazine writing. Research interests include social construction of computer technology, magazine history and content and computer literacy.

Dr. John Ludlum
Professor and Public Relations Student Society of America chapter co-adviser
Dr. Ludlum teaches public speaking, interpersonal communication, communication skills for organizations, principles of public relations and organizational communication. Research interests include organizational communication, interpersonal communication and teaching and learning.

Dr. Nichelle McNabb
Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Forensics
Dr. McNabb teaches public speaking, rhetorical criticism, principles of interviewing, business and professional speech, communication skills in organizations and communication research. Research interests include political communication and popular culture portrayals of educators.

Dr. Susan Millsap
Professor, Chairperson and Director of Forensics
Dr. Millsap teaches public speaking, oral interpretation, communication research and argumentation and advocacy. Research interests include political and feminist argumentation, communication across the curriculum and teaching methods for returning adult students.

Dr. Christina Reynolds
Professor
Dr. Reynolds teaches public speaking, interpersonal communication, advanced public speaking, persuasion, senior portfolio and communication and society. Research interests include sports rhetoric, media effects and rhetorical theory and criticism.

Dr. Karyl Sabbath
Professor, advisor for Lambda Pi Eta student chapter and Mentoring Organizational Students Today
Dr. Sabbath teaches interpersonal communication, introduction to human communication, organizational communication, SYE:  Organizational Change, senior portfolio and communication and society. Research interests include conflict and change in marital and family communication; organizational culture and change; and service learning.

Ms. Denise Shively, APR
Teaching Staff, Director of the Senior Year Experience Program and Society of America chapter co-adviser
Ms. Shively teaches media writing, principles of public relations, public relations techniques, public relations case studies, and public relations research, planning and strategy. Research interests include service learning, community engagement and student learning and public relations.

Dr. Kerry Strayer
Associate Professor
Dr. Strayer teaches small group communication, interpersonal communication, introduction to human communication, principles of interviewing, interpreting communication research and organizational communication. Research interests include organizational change processes, organizational structure and change in non-profits and religious organizations and religious rhetoric.

Dr. Hillary Warren
Associate Professor and Tan & Cardinal adviser
Dr. Warren teaches media writing, computer-assisted reporting and media law. Research interests include religion and media and society.

Dr. Janice Windborne
Assistant Professor and Faculty Advisor to WOBN-FM/WOBN.net
Dr. Windborne teaches broadcast performance, media ethics and media and society. Research interests include gender and media, international media and media for development.


Part-time Faculty

Susan Alexander
Ms. Alexander began teaching at Otterbein College in 2002 and has taught Communications 361 and co-taught Communications 362 and 363. All three classes focus on communicating effectively within the domain of leadership.
Her background is quite diverse with 23 years at Bank One serving in a variety of capacities including commercial lending, quality management, community development and investment product management. She has worked with Corporate Performance Systems and Business Edge Performance Group. Currently Susan is affiliated with Open Door Coaching & Consulting, LLC.

Linda Davis
Ms. Davis began teaching public speaking at Otterbein College in the Fall of 1989. She is the faculty adviser of Sigma Alpha Tau fraternity. Her hobbies include speed walking, jogging and raising her five cats and dogs.

Jennifer Kiser
Ms. Kiser is the Production Manager at NBC 4. In addition to managing the combined production and technical staff, she is part of a combined production-engineering-IT team charged with incorporating new technologies. Adding variety to her position is Ms. Kiser's role of Executive Producer for the annual broadcast of "Red, White & Boom". She began teaching Introduction to Broadcasting at Otterbein in 2001.

Jim Martin
Mr. Martin received his undergraduate degree from Otterbein College. He is a retired course developer and instructor for Lucent Technologies. Before coming to Otterbein, Mr. Martin taught Marketing and Customer Service classes at Columbus State Community College. At Otterbein he teaches Public Speaking, Small Group Communication, Business and Professional Speech and Communication Skills for Organizations.

Susan Merryman, APR
Ms. Merryman is vice president, marketing and communication for the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of Otterbein College and earned and MBA from the University of Dayton. She teaches Public Relations Techniques and Public Relations Case Studies and serves as a professional adviser for the College’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).

Dr. Nancy Metzger
Dr. Metzger is a full-time Higher Ground Consultant in Human Resources, Mount Carmel Health System. Higher Ground is a culture change initiative to re-awaken spirituality and values in the workplace. She has taught Interpersonal Communication and Communication Skills in Organizations for Otterbein since 1998 and a range of communication courses in past years as a full-time faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh and DePauw University.

Sherry Beck Paprocki
Ms. Paprocki is the editor of Columbus Monthly Homes and president of Paprocki Ltd., a company that focuses on strategic public relations and custom publishing for various clients (www.PaprockiLtd.com). An widely-published journalist and author, she has had bylines appear in the Chicago Tribune, Preservation magazine, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Los Angeles Times syndicate, and others. In 2007, her juvenile biography about Oprah Winfrey, published by Chelsea House, was selected to be on the honor list for the Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA). Two additional biographies are scheduled for publication in 2009. She has been an adjunct instructor at Otterbein since 1996.

Ray Paprocki
Mr. Paprocki is editor of Columbus Monthly. He has won more than 30 local, state and regional journalism awards. His freelance credits include the Chicago Tribune, the Plain Dealer Sunday Magazine and The Sporting News. He also was a stringer for the Wall Street Journal. He is the author of A Columbus State of Mind, a collection of personal essays first published in Columbus Monthly, and five children's publications. He has been teaching media writing at Otterbein College since the late 1990s.

Seymour Raiz
Mr. Raiz is an adjunct journalism professor who spent 46 years in journalism and communications. He began newspapering in 1952 as a copy boy at the Cleveland Press while still an undergraduate at Western Reserve University. Raiz was promoted to reporter upon graduation, and spent his remaining 25 years at the newspaper in such positions as assistant city editor, suburbs editor and executive sports editor. In 1977 he left Cleveland to become managing editor of the Columbus Citizen-Journal, where he remained until 1986. He later spent 11 years as vice president/communications for the Greater Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau until retiring in 1998. He began teaching for Otterbein in 2000 as an instructor for Journalism 260 (Newswriting & Reporting).
