I have
been teaching German language at Otterbein College since 2002 and
Integrative
Studies here since 2004. I recently
taught a German culture course for the PACE program at
Otterbein and am actively involved in the development of study-abroad
opportunities in
Germany, Switzerland, or Austria, the implementation of a German
Literature in
Translation course, and the revitalization of the German minor at the
College.
I
received my B.A. in German and English Secondary Education from Capital
University (summa cum
laude) and both
my M.A. and Ph.D. from the Department of Germanic Languages and
Literatures at the Ohio State University. My
dissertation topic in comparative
literature focused on images of the
body in contemporary German and American poetry by women.
My
research interests include poetry, women’s studies, and film. My current projects include a translation of
the most recent volume by the German poet Ursula Krechel, Voices
from the
Bitter Core (including translations of several poems for the
publication of
the International P.E.N. Congress in Berlin in May 2006), and
biographies of
German and American women poets (Ursula Krechel, Helga Novak, and Nelly
Sachs) for the online research database The
Literary
Encyclopedia. |
