In 1969 I received a B.S. in Educ.
degree in Spanish and French and in 1971 an M.A. in Spanish and Spanish American
literature, both from the Ohio State University. While an undergraduate at Ohio
State, I studied in Mexico City for a quarter, and since then I have visited
many Spanish-speaking countries, leading student groups, recruiting
international students, and traveling with my family for pleasure. Over the
years I have enjoyed teaching many levels of Spanish and French in secondary
school and college. In 1979 I began working with international students as
Assistant (later Associate) Director of the English Language Program at Ohio
Wesleyan University. In 1987 I began my position as Director of International
Student Programs at Otterbein College and ever since then have really enjoyed my
very interesting work as international student advisor and off-campus study
coordinator. Although these two responsibilities require most of my time and
energy, I am fortunate to be able to continue as a part-time instructor in
Spanish, a language that has always fascinated me.
