Music Students' Junior Recital (featuring French, German, and Italian pieces)
April 7, 8 p.m., Church of the Master, Grove and Main
(Use these questions to write a cultural activity report-TBP)
Ms. Kristen DiNinno and Mr. David Kaverman, students of music, will sing three French musical pieces from a nineteenth-century repertoire (Faurré and others) for their Junior Recital.  Students in French 110 and 120 may use this as their first cultural activity of the quarter.  Students are to comment on linguistic and semantic aspects of the musical lyrics and report on the exprience as a spectator.

The Alliance Française National Essay Contest 2006
February 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m., T 118 and 16, 3:30-5:30 p.m., T 114
The Dept. of Foreign Languages is hosting the Alliance Française's Concours national de français 2006 (The AF National French Writing Contest)Two different categories will take place on the following dates: February 16, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Towers 114 for undergraduate college students with less than 3 years of French, and Feb. 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Towers 118 for those with 3 to 4 years of French.  Students will have 2 hours to write of an original essay on a given subject.  Prizes include 2 language trips to Paris, subscriptions to French magazines and newspapers, and deluxe editions of French books. Entry free: $5.00 (check/money order made out to the Alliance Française). Sponsored by Air France,TV5, Ambassade de France, Bavard Presse, and others.
