Creative Writing

writing quoteThe writing program offers introductory and advanced courses in four major genres: fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction; as well as some new options including screenwriting and travel writing.

The creative writing concentration begins with Words and Forms: An Introduction to the Literary Imagination; moves through a sequence of writing courses, including courses in the major genres (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and playwriting); and concludes with the senior writing project, a year-long opportunity to work independently and with a faculty advisor on an original collection of poems, set of short stories, novel, play, screenplay, or memoir.
