Literary Studies

The literary studies curriculum is your opportunity to immerse yourself in literatures that span oceans, histories, genders, ethnicities, religions, theories about literature, and many more boundaries.

The literature studies concentration begins with Words and Forms: An Introduction to the Literary Imagination; moves through courses in interpretation, theory, British and American literature, and non-canonical literatures (e.g., Native American, African American, women writers), and ends with a senior literary project - a year-long opportunity to work independently and with a faculty member on an advanced, in-depth study of authors, periods, or themes.
