The Otterbein horses were welcomed to their new home, the Center for Equine Studies, on Sept. 11. Click here to see more pictures of the horses moving in.
Otterbein will host an IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) Show from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Several local high school students will be competing while Otterbein Equine students run the event. Equitation Over Fences (jumping) will start at 9:00 AM followed by Equitation on the Flat (group classes). Several Otterbein owned horses will be participating. All riders "catch ride" horses that they have never ridden. The event is free and open to the public. Concessions will be available. Parking is available at the facility with over flow at Heritage Middle School and Robert Frost Elementary School. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. we will offer guided tours through the main barn and arena facility.
Students May Apply for Horse Boarding
With the completion of the new larger Equine Center, Otterbein will accept a limited number of our students' horses for boarding. Details.
Local Student Wins Equine Scholarship
Stephanie Huebner of Plain City received a $2,500 Curt Greene Memorial Scholarship from the Harness Horse Youth Foundation. She was a graduate of Jonathan Alder High School and valedictorian of her class.
Huebner got her first win as a driver in August when she guided pacer Noble Huebie to a head victory at the Mercer County Fair. The horse was trained by Huebner’s grandfather, Donald Knight, and co-owned by her mother, Kay.
She is a freshman at Otterbein College where she is studying equine business management. She would like to train and drive horses on a full-time basis after graduating from college.
