Grants

The Gateway Program has received funding from the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) for the past two academic years. The overall goal of this OFIC funded grant is to increase college access and success in a private four-year college for the growing number of New Americans in the Columbus area.

In collaboration with IKIC, Project GRAD and Columbus Public Schools, Gateway staff and two Student Ambassadors will engage in a wide range of recruitment activities aimed at students from immigrant backgrounds who are relatively new to the United States.

Anticipated outcomes include: increased number of New Americans recruited; increased diversity at Otterbein College; students' acquisition of college-level competencies; relationship-building and enhanced communication between high school ESL educators, college faculty, and community organizations through workshops and sharing of best practices.
