Week #3 (June 22-28, 2007)
Progress on the Science Building is moving right along! This week the demolition crew is working hard to clear the interior of McFadden Hall. Currently the 4th floor of McFadden is off limits since the crew has started environmental abatement to remove asbestos. Only crew members wearing respirators and special suits are permitted in this sealed off area.
The lower floors are being stripped of cabinets, light fixtures, desks and chairs, and other construction rubble. These items are being disposed of through the newly opened windows and removal shoots and landing in the dumpsters below.
Currently there are six windows on the East side of McFadden Hall where the bricks have been removed to restore the original window size. One window on the front of the building has been partially removed. It takes the demolition crew approximately one working day to complete the brick removal of two windows.
This week we are happy to share the first photos taken from inside of McFadden Hall since construction started on June 11, 2007.
