Week #7 (July 20-26, 2007)
The renovation crew continues to focus much attention on restoring each bricked up window. Currently 25 window frames have been restored to their original size. This week construction fencing was constructed on the North side of the building facing the street and window restoration has begun. This phase of construction will likely grab the attention of passers by. Another development this week was the temporary removal of the Igneaus rock that once resided on the South side of McFadden Hall. This rock was given to Otterbein College by Professor Emeritus Fred A. Hanawalt, class of 1913, and his wife, Loretta, to stimulate interest in geology. The specimen from The Palisades weighs over a ton. During construction heavy equipment and falling debris threaten the safety of the rock; therefore, the crew has moved it to a safe place. Upon completion of the science building the rock will become one of the central pieces of the newly constructed science plaza.
