JR Bonham '03

JR Bonham

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training.

What he's doing now: Currently, I am an assistant athletic trainer at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.

After Graduation: I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to give back to current athletic training students by acting as a clinical instructor. I love the connection I gain with current students as well as developing better friendships with those that I had as instructors.

About his Otterbein experience: I am forever grateful to the knowledge and friendships I gained during my time at Otterbein. I began my college career at a bigger state school and quickly learned it wasn't for me.

After meeting with the athletic training staff and visiting Otterbein, I knew this was a place I could call "home". The staff and instructors at Otterbein felt much more like a family to me as opposed to professors and instructors.

All those involved in my college experience were always willing to go the extra mile for me and all of the students. While I didn't always realize it initially, the staff always had my best interests in mind.

JR's advice: Some advice I would have for students of today is to keep an open mind and let the Health and Sport Sciences Staff help you. I never planned on working in a college setting, but due to all the experiences I had as an athletic training student I felt prepared and ready.

I am forever indebted to Otterbein, if I can do anything to help anyone else. Please contact me at bonhamj@ohiodominican.edu.
