Ellen Capwell
Dr. Capwell has been with Otterbein College since 1999. Prior to joining the Health & Sport Sciences Department she worked in public health for 25 years at the Ohio Department of Health. Her career began with five years of teaching health & physical education at Whitehall High School.
She has been active in the health education profession, serving as President of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE), Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, and Coordinator of the Coalition of National Health Education Organizations. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the SOPHE-AAHE Baccalaureate Program Approval Committee.
Her BS, MA, and PhD are in health education with minor emphasis on evaluation, from the Ohio State University.
She is married (Mark) and has two sons (Erik & Ian).
