Physical Education Minor

The course of study in Physical Education may lead to the special licensure for teaching physical education in the public schools. Students not interested in licensure may complete the Physical Education major course of study or consider related fields and careers and review the programs in Sport Management and/or Health Promotion and Fitness.

Otterbein's Physical Education students participate in local service learning projects such as Community Health Fairs, Elementary School Family Activity Nights, fitness education programs, field days, and Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart for local school students.

Many students in the program are members of professional organizations such as American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance and Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance. Students serve on college committees, serve as state convention volunteers, and attend and present at conferences and workshops.

The Physical Education major program of studies gives the necessary specialized foundation to enter the field. Coupled with the broad academic experiences through the liberal arts curriculum provides the flexibility, adaptability and creativity necessary for career growth and satisfaction in our rapidly changing society.
