MATH 300 Tasks - Winter 2008

Week 1 (due Monday, January 14):
Task 1: Solve Problem 1. Be sure to write or type up your complete solution neatly.
Task 2: Find a problem that interests you and submit it to me. (You do not need to be able to solve the problem.)

Week 2 (due Monday, January 28):
Task 1: Solve Problem 2.
Task 2: Attempt to solve this and next week's coffee hour problems. (These come out every Friday during the department coffee hour (1:30-2:30pm) and can also be found on my main page.)
Task 3: Submit a possible coffee hour problem to me. Ideally, these problems are at the MATH 116 (trigonometry) level or below and appeal to a wide range of math/computer science students.

Week 4 (due Monday, February 4):
Task 1: Solve Problem 3.
Task 2: Attempt to solve this week's coffee hour problem.
Task 3: Submit a possible problem that you would like to present to the class. You should be able to solve (or understand a given solution to) this problem, and it should be at a level appropriate for our class.

Week 5 (due Monday, February 11):
Task 1: Solve Problem 4.
Task 2: Attempt to solve this week's coffee hour problem.

Week 6 (due Monday, February 18):
Task 1: Solve Problem 5.
Task 2: Attempt to solve this week's coffee hour problem.
Task 3: If I have approved your problem, get ready to present it next week. If I haven't approved your problem, find another one.

Week 7 (due Monday, February 25):
Task 1: Solve Problem 6.
Task 2: Attempt to solve this week's coffee hour problem.
Task 3: Submit a possible coffee hour problem to me (I'm running out!).

Week 8 (due Monday, March 3):
Task 1: Solve Problem 7.
Task 2: Attempt to solve this week's coffee hour problem.
Task 3: Submit a possible coffee hour problem to me (I'm running out!).

Week 9 (due Monday, March 10):
Task 1: Solve Problem 8.
Task 2: Attempt to solve this week's coffee hour problem.
