Known
Issues and Problems with the Blackboard System
The following are known problems with the Blackboard
system:
Problem: The Attach File link is covered in the Send Email tool. This only affect users using Internet Explorer 8.
Solution or Work-Around: Blackboard is working on a patch. Until then, use the Firefox browser.
Problem: Even though the "Send
copy to me" option is selected when sending e-mail,
no copy is received.
Solution or Work-Around: None. Blackboard,
Inc. has not provided a patch for this problem.
Problem: Recipients aren't receiving
e-mail when sent through Blackboard.
Solution or Work-Around: In order
for the Blackboard e-mail system to work, the sender
and recipient must use their Otterbein e-mail addresses.
If any members of the class use an e-mail address other
that USERNAME@otterbein.edu, there is a very good chance
the e-mail will not be delivered.
Problem: Can't remove another instructor
from the class.
Solution or Work-Around: First change the person's role to Student. Then remove the person.
Problem: This isn't a problem. Internet Explorer asks to to confirm downloading the file.
Solution or Work-Around: Look for the pale yellow security message at the top of the page. If you click that bar you will be give an option to download the file. To avoid this in the future, set blackboard.com as a trusted site. Here's how to do that.
Problem: Uploaded files can't be
downloaded.
Solution or Work-Around: When uploading a file, make sure
the file names only contain letters, numbers, spaces,
dashes and underscores. Also, make sure the file names
contain a file extension (e.g., .doc for MS Word files).
