& Spyware
Viruses, spyware and adware are real threats to computer
users. In a worst case scenario, this malware can:
- Cause your computer to run very slow.
- Prevent your computer from starting.
- Cause your computer to periodically shut down.
- Erase files and programs.
- Record your keystrokes and pass along credit card
information, social security numbers and other personal
data to identity thieves.
- Bring all network activity to a standstill.

Otterbein University requires that all computers that connect
to the network to be free of malware and to have software
that protects computers. Please note the following:
- All college-owned computers (used by faculty, staff
and student labs), have antivirus software installed.
- Resident students are provided free McAfee VirusScan
software when they connect to the residence hall
network.
