The Dynamic Menu displays expanding submenus. When the Dynamic Menu option is on, you will see a right pointing triangle (Expand). When you put the mouse over the menu item, the menu will expand to the right.

If you like this feature, check the Checkbox to the left; otherwise, make sure it is unchecked.

BugViruses & Spyware

Viruses, spyware and adware are real threats to computer users. In a worst case scenario, this malware can:

  • Cause your computer to run very slow.
  • Prevent your computer from starting.
  • Cause your computer to periodically shut down.
  • Erase files and programs.
  • Record your keystrokes and pass along credit card information, social security numbers and other personal data to identity thieves.
  • Bring all network activity to a standstill.

Otterbein College requires that all computers that connect to the network to be free of malware and to have software that protects computers. Please note the following:

  • All college-owned computers (used by faculty, staff and student labs), have antivirus software installed.
  • Resident students are provided free McAfee VirusScan software when they connect to the residence hall network.
  • Click here if you need information on acquiring antivirus software.
  • Click here if you need information on acquiring anti-spyware and anti-adware software.
  • If you need software for your personal computer, remember that you can usually buy that software at deeply discounted academic prices.
