Passwords
and Usernames
Your
Otterbein username is your firstname.lastname (e.g. jane.doe)
and this is the naming convention for all students. For faculty
and staff the naming convention is first letter of first name
followed by last name (e.g. jdoe for jane doe)
Remember
your username is just that and not jane.doe@otterbein.edu.
That is your email address for others to email to you.
Your password
is a unique one (not your ID number) that you created when
you activated your account and only you know it. It is case
sensitive.
So, once you activated your account. Use the O-Zone
page to logon to all other technology resources without
having to logon separately to each system. For example you
can logon to O-Zone and click on the Self Service Banner link
and not have to logon with an ID or pin. You will be logged
on automatically from your single sign on to O-Zone.
Note: All systems except Self Service Banner require only
your username and your unique password for logon. This includes
basically all the technology resources such as webmail, the
library, Blackboard, Moodle, lab machines and Otternet. If
you happen to navigate directly to Self Service Banner outside
of O-Zone, you will note that you will need to use your Otterbein
ID e.g. (A12345678) and pin (6 digit number) and not your
username and password.
Forgotten
Passwords
If your unique password is not working or perhaps you forgot
it, you may call the Help Desk to have it reset.
If you are a student call the Student Computing Manager at
823-1885; if you are faculty or staff, call 823-1747.
We will confirm your identity and then reset your password
to the default which is your OID (Otterbein ID) This is the
unique 8-digit number found printed on your Cardinal card
and available after logon to Otternet. It is also the same
as your Self Service Banner ID number but NOT preceeded by
a capital letter "A". The default reset password
is just the 8 numbers.
Please note: The Help Desk can only reset passwords between
the hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (8:30 am to 4:00 pm in the
summer).
