Spam
Information and Technology Services has implemented an anti-spam,
anti-virus email gateway. This gateway will examine all email sent to
Otterbein email recipients. It will do the following:
- Quarantine email flagged as “Spam” or “Phishing” email.
- Clean viruses that are imbedded in email.
- Reduce the possibility of an attack directed to Otterbein’s email
server.
Email flagged as spam will be placed in a quarantine on the OCCleanMail
server. Each user will receive an email each day summarizing how many of
their messages have been quarantined. It is important that all email users
check their individual quarantined email repositories about once a week to
ensure that valid email is not being flagged as spam. To check this, go to the
following web site:
https://OCCleanMail.otterbein.edu:8447
Login using your Otterbein username and password. You will
need to type in your username as follows in order to logon:
(e.g. otterbein\username) You will see a screen like the following:

If you suspect that one or more emails listed are not spam, you may click the
checkbox on the left side and then click the button called “Not Spam”. This
will forward the email on to your inbox. Email left in the quarantine will be
automatically deleted after seven days. If you click on the “Approved
Senders” link, you will be taken to a page which allows you to add approved
(safe) senders. All Otterbein email addresses are considered to be safe.
Any non-Otterbein email that continues to be flagged as spam, but you
consider being safe, can be added to this approved sender’s list. The page
below shows the approved senders list.
