 Dynamic Menu What's This?

The Dynamic Menu displays expanding submenus. When the Dynamic Menu option is on, you will see a right pointing triangle (Expand). When you put the mouse over the menu item, the menu will expand to the right.

If you like this feature, check the Checkbox to the left; otherwise, make sure it is unchecked.

If you use the same computer every time you visit the ITS web pages, we'll be able to remember your menu preferences!

No Floppies!

Faculty, staff and students are discouraged from using floppy diskettes. As this medium has become less ubiquitous, we've noticed that the quality of today's diskettes has gone way down. Quite often the files on the floppies becomes corrupted and nearly impossible to retrieve. (We're always amazed at how many floppies go bad during finals week.) Instead of using floppies, consider using:

  • Your Home Folder. Everyone on campus has a network folder for storing files. Home Folders are easily accessible from any on-campus computer. They can also be accessed via FTP from any computer on the Internet. One way to access your home folder is to use your Otternet page. Select Otternet from the quick link at the top of this page click here. Another way to access your home folder is to type the following address into your Internet browser.

    Students: ftp://students.otterbein.edu/username

    Faculty: ftp://faculty.otterbein.edu/username

  • USB DriveFlash Drive. These popular USB devices (also known as thumb drives, USB drives, pen drives, jump drives) allow you to store a massive amount of data. They are very durable and very reasonably priced.
