 Dynamic Menu What's This?

The Dynamic Menu displays expanding submenus. When the Dynamic Menu option is on, you will see a right pointing triangle (Expand). When you put the mouse over the menu item, the menu will expand to the right.

If you like this feature, check the Checkbox to the left; otherwise, make sure it is unchecked.

If you use the same computer every time you visit the ITS web pages, we'll be able to remember your menu preferences!

Troubleshooting GuidesTroubleshooting Guide: No Internet Connection

Look at the place where you plug in your network cable. Check to see if there is a blinking light (this is called the link light). The picture below shows the link lights (greenish yellow) at the top of the network cable jack.

Link Light

If your computer is a desktop model with a network card, the link light will be on the silver spine of the card. If your computer has an integrated (built-in) network card, the link light will be somewhere near the network cable jack.

If there is no blinking light, it could be any of the following problems:

  • Your network cable is loose. Unplug the network cable from both your computer and your wall port. Make sure the connector is snug when you plug the cable back in.
  • Your cable is bad. Get another cable that you know works and try it. If the second cable works, throw your cable away and buy a new one.
  • You room port is dead. Get another cable that you know works and try it. If the second cable does not work, contact the Student Help Desk at (614) 823-1060.
  • Your Network Card is loose. If you have a desktop computer, power down the computer, unplug the power cords from the wall and make sure the network card is securely installed in the computer. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU'VE NEVER WORKED INSIDE OF A COMPUTER BEFORE!
  • Your Network Card is not installed properly. Uninstall the driver and reinstall it.

You are looking for a green light and amber light flashing on your computer as seen in the picture below.

That fixed it. I am connected now. Return to Residence Hall page.
