Blackboard
Password Change
Effective
December 22nd your Blackboard's logon password will change.
Your password will no longer be your Otterbein
ID Number, but your webmail password. The system
is now single sign-on on the network. What that means is if
you log on to a computer on the Otterbein network, you can
open a link to Blackboard and will be automatically logged
into your account!
If you
are not logged directly into the network, you will be asked
to logon with your username (firstname.lastname for students,
firstinitial.lastname for faculty) and your webmail password.
You will also be given a choice to select "Remember Me
Only Until Browser is Closed" or "Remember Me Between
Logins on This Computer". If you select "Remember
Me Only Until Browser is Closed", you will need to logon
each time you open Blackboard. If you select "Remember
Me Between Logins on This Computer", you will have a
cookie stored on your machine for one year to remember your
password. That means if anyone logs on to your private computer
with your password, that person will automatically be able
to open your Blackboard account. So, pick your selection appropriately
with that understanding.
Final
Note: Always remember to logoff before leaving a publicly-used
computer and protect your password!

Moodle
is Here!
Moodle
is a free open source course management system that provides
the same type of services as Blackboard. If you're looking
for more powerful course management, give Moodle
a try.

Phishing
If you receive an e-mail claiming to be from the ITS department
asking for personal information, DO NOT RESPOND!
These Emails are asking for your account information so they
can log on to the Otterbein network and engage in malicious
activity.
Remember - we will never ask for log-in information
about your account. Click
here for how to recognize and protect yourself from phishing
email!
