MBAO Mentoring Opportunities

Mission Statement
The MBA mentor program strives to bond the Otterbein community and strengthen the MBA program. In this effort to strengthen connections between alumni and current students, we aim to encourage and facilitate opportunities for learning interaction. This program will be a powerful and visible asset of the MBA program and the Otterbein family.

Program Overview
This program is designed to provide students a means to explore their career options and see how their MBA knowledge is applied in the workforce. Mentors can illustrate what a typical job in a given field would be like. The mentor program will have no scheduled assignment of students to mentors. However, contact with a volunteer mentor is highly encouraged. Please be mindful of the sacrifices made by mentors and respect their time. The following learning interactions with mentors are recommended and encouraged.

Externship
This is a career exploration opportunity, which provides students a taste for a particular career setting. Students are given the opportunity to shadow an Otterbein alum or friend of the program at their work environment. This experience would usually last between 1-5 days at the discretion of the mentor.

Meetings and General Guidance
If the externship commands too much of a time commitment, a casual conversation and industry overview could also be tremendously helpful. Since a majority of Otterbein students are non traditional, it may be difficult for both student and mentor to coordinate an externship. This will provide unfettered career guidance and advice.
