Anthony Costa, D.M.A.

Anthony J. Costa, is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania and teaches clarinet, saxophone and music courses at Otterbein College and Ashland University in Ohio. He has served as clarinetist and bass clarinetist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Dayton Opera Orchestra since 1999. With the chamber music ensemble "Razbia," he was involved with Chamber Music America's Rural Residency Program for two years during which he worked and lived in Mississippi County, Arkansas.

Dr. Costa is an associate musician with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and has also played with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Akron Symphony Orchestra, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Wheeling (WVA) Symphony Orchestra, Richmond (IN) Symphony Orchestra and the Roanoke (VA) Symphony Orchestra.

He has been a guest performer at the International Clarinet Association�s Clarinetfest in 1998, 2006, and 2008; the 2005 and 2008 Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium; the 2005, 2007 and 2008 Ohio University Clarinet Gala, and the 2002 Allegheny Music Festival (PA). He is featured on two recordings of Cincinnati composer Rick Sowash's "Eroica" (2001) and "Sanctuary at 3am" (2004). Dr. Costa is a member of The Prestige Clarinet Quartet and the PC2 Trio and has given master classes throughout the country.

He attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and received a bachelor of music degree in music education and clarinet performance. Dr. Costa received his master of music degree in clarinet performance from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and his doctorate of musical arts degree from The Ohio State University. His teachers have included Carmine Campione, Anthony Gigliotti, Ronald Aufmann and James Pyne.

Dr. Costa lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Robyn.
