Originally from Lima, Ohio, Scott holds a Bachelor of Music Education from The Ohio State University, a Master of Music in Solo Performance from Arizona State University, and is currently in the Masters Program at the Ohio State University. He was a member of the McDonald's All American High School Band, The Ohio State University Marching and Concert Bands, the ASU Symphonic Band, the Ohio Collegiate Brass band, and the Brass Band of Columbus.
Scott's solo honors include: First Place in the Artist Level Solo Competition at the 1994 Mendez Brass Institute, First Place in the 1995 International Tuba/Euphonium Artist Level Solo Competition in Chicago, Finalist in the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Solo Competition in 1989 and 1990, Semi Finalist in the 1992 International Tuba/Euphonium Conference Solo competition in Lexington, KY, NABBA Soloist of the Day in 1990 (Pittsburgh, PA.) and 1994 (Raleigh, NC.), and First Place in the adult technical solo competition at NABBA 2000 (Columbus, OH). Scott is one of two euphoniumists to win the OSU Orchestra's concerto competition, the other one is Dr. Paul Droste. He has studied with Dr. Paul Droste, Professor Daniel Perantoni, and Dr. Brian Bowman.
In addition to his duties at Otterbein, Scott teaches instrumental music in the Grandview Heights City School District in Columbus, Ohio. His private students have won honors in NABBA solo competitions and continue to achieve superior marks in OMEA solo and ensemble contest and have won seats in Ohio All State Bands.
