Karl Wohlwend has performed throughout North America playing guitar in many different styles. Recent performing highlights include concerts on the East Coast with award-winning countertenor, Ian Howell; an appearance at Chicago's Ravinia Festival with Irish folk sensation, Knot Fibb'n; and a week-long residency with avant-garde ensemble, Alarm Will Sound. In addition to a heavy freelance schedule in and around Central Ohio, Karl has performed as a solo recitalist throughout the US. His degrees are from the University of South Carolina and the Cleveland Institute of Music, and his principal teachers include Christopher Berg and John Holmquist. He studied composition and jazz with Fred Teuber and Marshall Griffith. Karl has served on the faculty of Otterbein College since 1996, and formerly taught at Capital University and Ohio Wesleyan University.
