Aimee Cerney, BSN, RN, Nursing Arts Laboratory Assistant
I started out my nursing career at The Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio working as a telemetry/medical surgical nurse. Then I moved and worked at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima Ohio on the Coronary Observation Unit. I moved once again and worked as a float nurse for Doctor West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and stayed there until I started working as a case manager.
I worked as a workmen's compensation case manager for GatesMcDonald Health Plus which is part of Nationwide Insurance. While there I sat for my CCM exam and became a Certified Case Manager. I was a case manager for several years then was promoted up to team leader and eventually supervisor.
I was the first nurse within GatesMcDonald Health Plus to eventually work directly in the billing department reviewing bills and making recommendations. Within the company I moved over to Nationwide Better Health and began working remotely on insurance claims. Since then I have stayed home with my two small children until I started working in the Otterbein Nursing Lab summer, 2008.
