Doug Tima '07

Majors: Physical Science and Secondary Education

Doug spent many of his Otterbein days at Memorial Stadium as a four-year letter winner and captain of the Otterbein Cardinal football team. Now, Doug is putting his gridiron knowledge and experience to the test as head coach of the freshmen football team at Dublin Scioto High School. While at Otterbein, Doug served as the vice chair of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, which represents student athletes at more than 450 Division III colleges and universities. He also helped form the Committee's "Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive" program.

Take it with you: Today, Doug is head of the class teaching physics and physical sciences at Dublin Scioto High School. He said the Otterbein education department prepared him well for his career. "We got out into the schools our first year and spent time [at the elementary, middle and high school levels]. That's how I knew I would be a teacher," he said. Doug also helps lead the Twilight Program, an after-school program for struggling youth.

Why Otterbein:"A degree from Otterbein means something," he said. Coming from a rural hometown, Doug said he was attracted to Otterbein's location and the diverse campus community.
