Research & Teaching Interests

  • Investigations of how apps can be used for formative assessment. Also creative work developing interactive, tablet-based textbooks and freelance writing for national faith-based magazines and websites.

Personal Biography

Dr. Kelly's specialties include publication design, online technologies and magazine writing and editing. Many of her classes also include service learning, an approach that integrates community service with academic study in order to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. Her current research includes investigations of how directed classroom use of new online social media might improve critical thinking skills of college students. Dr. Kelly has extensive professional experience as a magazine editor and writer, web site designer, and public relations consultant for non-profits and arts organizations. As editor of OHIO magazine, her writing and editing work won both local and national awards.
