Recent or new topical courses: “Revolution, Religion, and Romanticism in Blake, Keats, and Wordsworth”; “William Blake”; “Politics & Society in West African Literature”; and “Theories of the Human Imagination.”

Senior project interests: With a broad background in comparative literature and comparative studies, I am especially interested in topics which cross different fields and national literary traditions: projects that relate literature to history, culture, politics, religion, and/or philosophy; projects focusing on literary theory; projects exploring how different cultures meet through literature; projects that explore an author’s philosophical, religious, or ideological views.  I am not limited to any one literary era, but the one with which I am most engaged is Romanticism broadly conceived:  from Blake and Goethe through Novalis, Emerson, Melville, Whitman, Wordsworth, Keats, Coleridge, and Hopkins. I am also very interested in the history of the novel and the history of religious poetry.
