Dr. Meyer is a developmental psychologist, with a focus on cognitive development in the early childhood years. After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the psychology department at the University of Michigan. She then joined the Otterbein faculty in the fall of 2013. Dr. Meyer researches the ways in which typically-developing children categorize the social- and non-social world, and how this categorization influences other cognitive processes like stereotyping, gender development, and language use. Dr. Meyer teaches classes in General Psychology, Child and Adolescent Development, Lifespan Development, and Research Methods.
Personal Note to Students
As the newest full-time faculty member of the Otterbein psychology department, I have had a wonderful time getting to know my students and the Otterbein community more broadly. I am excited to be here, and I look forward to sharing my passion for psychology with more students in the years to come!
