Otterbein University and Brookdale Senior Living Solutions present Lifelong Learners Lecture

September 11, 2015
Otterbein University

Otterbein University and Brookdale Senior Living Solutions will offer the Lifelong Learners Lecture,Ohio Sports: Always First with Otterbein Professor Jim Gorman, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Marysville Early College High School, 833 N. Maple St., Marysville. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Fall means sports—especially in Ohio! Many people know that professional baseball began in Cincinnati and the NFL was dreamed up in a hotel in Canton. But many people don’t know about Katie from Logan, Bevo from Rio Grande and the seven Nesser brothers who formed the Panhandles in Columbus.  Gorman will explain that there is much more to Ohio sports than Lebron and the Buckeyes.

Through his personal and academic interest in sports, Gorman helps first-year students appreciate Otterbein University and Ohio sports history through his Freshman Year Seminar class, Race, Gender and Class in American Sports.  He also serves as Otterbein’s faculty athletic representative.

Preregistration for the lecture is not required but is appreciated, especially for large groups. Register on-line at http://lavonaform.wufoo.com/forms/lifelong-learners-lecturesregistration.
