Community Invited to Fall Harvest Festival at Otterbein Community Garden

October 06, 2015
Otterbein University

The Otterbein University Center for Community Engagement invites the community to its annual Fall Harvest Festival from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Otterbein Community Garden, 390 N. Spring Rd. The event is free and open to the public with parking available at Heritage Middle School. There also will be a shuttle available to transport people between the Campus Center, the Otterbein Community Garden and the Equine Center as part of Otterbein’s Family Weekend event.

This family-friendly event will have activities and treats for all ages, including carnival games, fall crafts, a farmers market, apple cider and donuts, educational stations and service projects.

Otterbein’s Community Garden is divided into plots that are cultivated by a variety of community groups, including schools, neighborhood associations, veteran’s groups, senior citizen living communities, immigrant communities and Otterbein student groups. These gardeners are welcome to use gardening tools and water provided at the site. Some of the produce is donated to food pantries to feed members of our community.

The Fall Harvest Festival and its volunteers join millions of volunteers nationwide to improve the lives of others during Make a Difference Day.  This is the largest national community service day across the country.

The Fall Harvest Festival is sponsored by Serve Ohio and is part of the United Methodist Church Days of Service initiative. For additional information or questions, please contact Leslie Cavin at lcavin@otterbein.edu or 614-823-1272.
