Otterbein University Presents Performance by Air Force Brass Quintet and Halloween-Inspired Ensemble Concert

Otterbein to Host “Wright Brass” Air Force Brass Quintet 

The Otterbein University Department of Music will host a free concert by Wright Brass at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Wright Brass is a component of the United States Air Force Band of Flight stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. A brassy blend of sound, style, and humor makes Wright Brass an entertaining ensemble for audiences of all ages. Whether performing full-length concerts or supporting official military functions, these active duty Airman musicians consistently demonstrate the United States Air Force Band of Flight’s commitment to musical excellence. The United States Air Force Band of Flight is one of ten bands in the Air Force. The band’s purpose is to support the Air Force mission in war and peace by providing professional musical products and services for troop morale, recruiting and community relations events. The United States Air Force Band of Flight honors those who have served, inspires American citizens to heightened patriotism and service and positively impacts the global community on behalf of the United States Air Force and the United States of America. Otterbein Department of Music to present Fall Collage Concert: A Funtastic Halloween Concert for the Whole Family!

The Otterbein University Department of Music and Friends of Music at Otterbein will present a Fall Collage Concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, in the Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St. Tickets to this concert will be sold at the door for $15 general admission, or free for students (of all institutions, including high schools) with valid ID.  Ticket proceeds will benefit the Craig Johnson Fund for the Future of Music at Otterbein.  There will also be an opportunity to make donations to the fund at the concert. 

The program will feature outstanding performers and ensembles from the Otterbein Department of Music. This fast-paced and entertaining concert will include a great mix of musical styles from jazz and choir to orchestra, opera and percussion, presented with Halloween hijinks.  Students from the Otterbein Opera Theatre program will perform excerpts from The Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan. The concert will also include music from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Wizard of Oz.  No tricks, this is sure to be a treat for the whole family.
