Otterbein’s Opening Doors To The World Program Hosts Chilean Festival  

Westerville, OH—Otterbein University’s Opening Doors to the World program, a multi-year international arts initiative, invites the community to the Chilean Festival from Nov. 3-5. The festival features performances and discussions with Chilean poet Christian Formoso, Latin American scholar Fernando Blanco, Otterbein alumna Sydney Tammarine and Otterbein faculty members Terry Hermsen and Carmen Galarce. All events are free and open to the public.

Poetry from Patagonia: The Most Beautiful Cemetery in Chile

Christian Formoso, renowned Chilean poet and recipient of the Pablo Neruda Award for poetry, will give a public reading of his work, with translations by Otterbein Professor Terry Hermsen and Otterbein alumna Sydney Tammarine. 


Yo y No Yo: The Role of the “I” in Chilean Poetry

This interactive workshop, led by Chilean poet Christian Formoso and Otterbein Professor Terry Hermsen, will explore the nature of the “yo” in Spanish syntax and poetry in general, and especially how the “yo” and the “tu” interact in Chilean poetry over the past 30 years.
