Corporate Advisor and Business Analytics Expert To Headline Otterbein Commencement Ceremonies

Otterbein University has selected Donna James, managing director of Lardon & Associates, LLC, as its undergraduate commencement speaker, and Kerrie Adams, senior director of enterprise analytics at Lowe’s and 1998 graduate of Otterbein, as its graduate commencement speaker for the 2016 commencement weekend, April 30-May 1.

James will address the class of 2015 at the University’s undergraduate commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 1, in the Rike Center on the Otterbein campus in Westerville.

In October 2010, James was named by President Obama as chairwoman of the national Women’s Business Council, a non-partisan advisory council to the President, Congress, and the Small Business Administration, a position she held until June 2013.  She is a trusted resource and advisor for business leaders in the public and private sectors, ranging from entrepreneurs to C-suite executives of Fortune 500 companies. She has more than 30 years of diverse management and leadership experience. James is the managing director of Lardon & Associates, LLC, where her areas of focus include corporate governance, business development, strategy, human capital management, financial and risk management, and leadership development.

Prior to starting her own business, James was president of Nationwide Strategic Investments, a division of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. She led a new business innovation team and a venture capital fund with responsibility for discovering, analyzing, and commercializing opportunities in financial services. James also has served as the executive vice president and chief administrative officer for Nationwide Mutual and its public company subsidiary, Nationwide Financial. 

She is the founder and board chair of the Center for Healthy Families, a non-profit focused on transforming the lives of pregnant and parenting teens and their children. James serves on the board of directors for L Brands, Time Warner Cable, Marathon Petroleum Corporation and Boston Scientific.  She is also on the board of FIS Group, a private investment management firm. She is a past board member of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc., Intimate Brands and CNO Financial Group.

Adams, senior director of enterprise analytics at Lowe’s national headquarters in North Carolina, will speak at the graduate commencement ceremony on Saturday, April 30, in the Rike Center on the Otterbein campus in Westerville. 

At Lowe’s, Adams leads the enterprise analytics team and strategy for all marketing initiatives for U.S. and international business. She partners with all teams responsible for marketing including media, customer relationship management and digital. She finds innovative new ways to reach consumer with an omni-channel focus while shifting mix of media allocation from analog to digital tactics to drive ROI for the company.

Adams earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Otterbein in 1998 and master of applied statistics degree from The Ohio State University in 2002. Immediately after graduating from Otterbein, she was hired as a researcher for Battelle Memorial Institute. Before joining Lowe’s in 2014, she worked as a senior statistician and programmer analyst at NDCHealth (formerly ArcLight Systems, LLC) in Westerville, OH; director of statistical analysis at FacilitySource in Westerville, OH; manager of pricing science at Cardinal Health in Dublin, OH; and director of global customer insights and analytics at Sam’s Club in Bentonville, AR. A central Ohio native, Adams graduated from Pickerington High School in 1994.
