Otterbein Offers 2016 Summer Camps

Westerville, OH--Otterbein University opens its campus and welcomes summer campers to experience fun and learning again this year. For more information, or to register online, visit www.otterbein.edu/summercamps or call (614) 823-1371.

The camps are as follows:

Horsing around: An Otterbein Equine Science Camp
Dates:

June 6-10 - For younger campers between the ages of 10-13.

June 13-17 - For campers between the ages 13-17 that have limited riding experience.

June 20-24; June 27-July 1; July 11-15 - These three weeks of camp focus on students ages 13-17 who have previous riding experience and are looking to become more competitive in the show ring. Campers enrolled in these camps should be able to safely tack up horses on their own.

 

Times: Mon.-Thurs. 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Fri. 8 a.m.-3 p.m. (Parents are invited to an end-of-camp horse show, starts at 2 p.m.)
Location: Otterbein University’s Knowlton Center for Equine Science, 600 N. Spring Rd.
Costs: $450
Maximum capacity for each camp: 8-15 students

Otterbein’s English riding camp is designed to expand camper’s equine knowledge both on and off the horse. Campers will ride an hour and a half to two hours each day and learn the ins and outs of horse handling, equine nutrition, braiding, equine first aid and general horse care. This is a competitively priced academic camp that is sure to sharpen your equine skills. Just choose a camp week that suits your riding level and schedule and register before it fills up.


Summer Music Experience
Dates: June 6-10
Time: 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
Location: Battelle Fine Arts Center, Otterbein University

Cost: $400 for commuters, lunch and dinner provided; $525 for overnight campers, all meals provided

Otterbein is excited to offer its fourth annual summer music camp from June 6-10. The camp caters to guitarists (classical and jazz), string players (violin, cello, viola, bass), pianists (classical), vocalists (classical) and composers. Classes will focus on theory and ear-training (including jazz theory), musicians’ health, and music technology. All summer music participants will also have the option to participate in a choir. The camp will end with a student recital at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 10, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. New this year, we are offering an overnight option in which students may elect to stay in dorms on campus, with Resident Assistant supervision at all times.
