Upcoming Music Performances Include Original Compositions by Students, Early Music and chamber music

Westerville, OH—The Otterbein University Department of Music offers a stellar lineup of upcoming performances, with genres to please a variety of musical tastes, including original compositions by students, Early Music Ensemble and piano and string chamber music. Otterbein University Composition Students to Present a Concert of Original Works
Composition students in the Otterbein University Department of Music will showcase their work at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. The program will include solos, chamber music, electro-acoustic music, and music for film composed by students in various music classes throughout the past year. This concert is free and open to the public.

Otterbein University Early Music Ensemble to Perform
The Otterbein University Early Music Ensemble will present “Final Fantasy” at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. The concert of recorders, viols, voice and organ will feature fantasias by Frescobaldi, Du Caurrois and Tomkins, as well as dances and a solo cantata by Rosenmüller. This concert is free and open to the public.

Otterbein Student String and Piano Chamber Ensembles to Perform
Otterbein’s spring recital of piano and string chamber music will be presented at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 18, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. Music by Gade, Mendelssohn, Handel-Halverson, Beethoven and Vivaldi will be performed. The program will also feature a work by visiting Cuban composer José María Vitier for cello and piano. Vitier will attend this concert as part of Otterbein’s Opening Doors to the World initiative. Audience members are invited to meet the composer following the performance. This concert is free and open to the public.
