Otterbein University Theatre Presents "Angels in America"

November 22, 2011

Westerville, OH—Otterbein University Theatre presents Angels in America Part I: Millennium Approaches at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, and 8 p.m. on Dec. 2-3 and 7-9 at the Campus Center Theatre, 100 W. Home St. Tickets cost $15. Call 614-823-1109 or visit www.otterbein.edu/artscene for more information. (Please note that this production contains adult themes, mature content and strong language.)

Called the most ambitious American play of our time, Angels in America is a fantastical epic that ranges from earth to heaven; focuses on politics, sex and religion; and transports us to several different locations including Washington, the Kremlin, the South Bronx, Salt Lake City and Antarctica. In its exploration of the cultural and racial notions in our society, the action switches seamlessly between realism and fantasy, from the tragedy of AIDS to the camp comedy of drag queens to the death and abandonment of God. Dangerous, witty and provocative, Angels in America highlights the power of imagination to transform devastation into beauty.

Panels of The AIDS Memorial Quilt will be displayed in the lobby of the Campus Center Theatre for the performances on Dec. 7-9. A display of AIDS myths and facts and a program insert designed by students in the Senior Year Experience class, The Face of AIDS, will be available at all performances of the show.

Tickets for Angels in America are $15 each and can be reserved by calling the Otterbein University box office at (614) 823-1109. The box office is open 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour prior to performances. The box office will be closed Nov. 23-25. Student Rush discounts are available one hour prior to curtain, pending ticket availability. The box office is located in Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St., Westerville.
