Otterbein University and Westerville Public Library Host America's Music Series

Westerville, OH—Starting in January 2013, Otterbein University and the Westerville Public Library will host the “America’s Music: A Film History of Our Popular Music from Blues to Bluegrass to Broadway” series to enlighten audiences about uniquely American musical genres including blues, gospel, Broadway, jazz, bluegrass, country, rock n’ roll, mambo and hip hop. The series will feature one-hour documentary film screenings followed by 45 minutes of scholar-led discussions.

This Westerville partnership is one of fifty locations nationwide selected to host this series, with Otterbein claiming honors as only one of 17 universities. “America’s Music” is a project by the Tribeca Film Institute in collaboration with the American Library Association, Tribeca Flashpoint and the Society for American Music. “America’s Music” has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the Human Endeavor.
