With breakneck pace and a rich gallery of characters, Michael Frayn’s brilliantly witty farce, Noises Off, follows the on- and off-stage antics of a mediocre English touring company as they stumble from dress rehearsal to disastrous closing night of their comedic play, Nothing On. Absolutely everything that can go wrong does. Missed cues, broken backstage romances and a very slippery plate of sardines all come together to create this riotous, madcap comedy that will get everyone caught in the act!
Otterbein’s production of Noises Off is guest directed by Dan Knechtges, a 1994 graduate of Otterbein University and a Tony Nominated choreographer and director working in theater, opera, concert dance, television, film and music videos. Knechtges has directed and choreographed for numerous theatres across the country and internationally on shows ranging from Gilbert and Sullivan to Rodgers and Hammerstein to Brecht. Knechtges’ Broadway credits include Lysistrata Jones, Xanadu, Sondheim on Sondheim, 110 in The Shade and The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee. He holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in musical theatre from Otterbein University and hails from Cleveland, OH. He is also a member of the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab.
