Otterbein University Announces Course for Adults at Otterbein-Marysville Innovation Center

May 11, 2015

Westerville, OH—Otterbein University is poised to take a bold step into Union County by offering new adult education certificates and classes in the evening. Beginning fall of 2015, Otterbein will offer a four-course Organizational Leadership Certificate, taught entirely in the evening for adult learners at the Otterbein-Marysville Innovation Center at Marysville Early College High School, located on the Rt. 33 Industrial Corridor.

“Workers are being tapped more and more to lead groups and to be involved in change initiatives,” said Maria Polak, director of leadership studies at Otterbein. “Employers need more leadership talent to be successful in today’s business environment and are looking how to grow their teams. Our new Organizational Leadership Certificate will help develop and document the employee’s effort toward proven leadership success.”

The Organizational Leadership Certificate at Otterbein-Marysville Innovation Center is a comprehensive professional development certificate for the aspiring executive, project manager, high-potential supervisor, entrepreneur or individual who wants to identify, learn and apply the fundamentals of organizational leadership. This knowledge can be used immediately for enhanced career satisfaction and advancement as well as for personal and professional growth.

In addition to the Leadership Certificate, four communication courses will be offered, incorporating in-class and online study. These credit-bearing classes will be offered in the evening and may count toward additional leadership degrees.

“Otterbein is a college of opportunity and is excited to offer the chance for Union County adults to advance in their careers close to home or work,” said Jefferson Blackburn-Smith, vice president for enrollment management. “We are committed to providing a high quality education that is affordable and prepares adult students to meet the needs of their communities.”

The total cost is reduced by 33 percent to $6,000 for 16 semester hours, or four courses in the certificate or communication courses. A price reduction of 45 percent for a total cost $5,000 is given when an organization, business or corporation purchases two advance enrollment seats in the program. Otterbein offers a variety of payment plan options to make the program affordable for businesses and individuals.

Local resident, Lavonna See, serves as the admission counselor and can be reached at lsee@otterbein.edu or (614) 572-3593 to answer questions or schedule appointments.

Classes will begin Aug. 24, 2015, for the fall semester; Jan. 12, 2016, for the spring semester; and May 17, 2016, for the summer semester. Get more details and apply at www.otterbein.edu/marysvilleclasses.
