Otterbein University to Host Exhibition by Artist Dana Harper

May 12, 2015

Westerville, OH—Otterbein University will feature “daydream,” an exhibit featuring the art of Dana Harper, from May 18-Aug. 14 in the Fisher Gallery at Roush Hall, 27 S. Grove St. The gallery is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily, and closed on holidays. The exhibit is free and open to the public. For information call (614) 823-1792.

In her solo exhibition, “daydream,” Harper celebrates the beauty of individuality while also acknowledging the power of the collective body in this showcase of her work from 2013-2015. Using overpowering color, inviting textures and an overall multi-sensory experience, the works act as a gateway to warm feelings and childhood fantasy. Playful patterns, dancing tinsel and unapologetic fluorescent colors are not only a testament to the beauty of life, but to the ever-encompassing joy of living.

Harper holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in art and technology from The Ohio State University. In 2009, she received an undergraduate research grant to complete her thesis work. She was the recipient of The Bunton Waller Fellowship from Penn State University, where she received her master of fine arts degree in 2013. Harper has been an artist-in-residence at BUNKERprojects and Second Sight Studio. She was awarded an ArtPrize Artist Seed Grant and The ArtFile Emerging Artist Grant in 2014. In 2014, Harper participated in 26 juried exhibitions and three solo exhibitions.
