Westerville, OH— Otterbein University will host Dr. Robert Miller for a reading on his religious writing at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 16, and for a lecture, “The Historical Jesus and the Kingdom of God” at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17. Both events will he held in the Otterbein Chapel, 88 Cochran Alley. The events are free and open to the public as part of the Berkey Lecture Series. Miller will also discuss the historical Jesus at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at the Church of the Messiah United Methodist, 51 N. State St.
Dr. Robert Miller is a professor of religious studies at Juniata College, where he teaches courses in the Bible, world religions and the philosophy of religion. In addition to his academic teaching and research, Miller is committed to adult education in the churches. He has made over 250 appearances for various religious groups across North America.
He has been an active member of the Jesus Seminar for twenty-six years. He is the editor of The Fourth R, the Jesus Seminar’s magazine. He also edited The Complete Gospels, a collection of 22 early Christian gospels and the recent The Complete Gospel Parallels. Miller is the author of The Jesus Seminar and its Critics and Born Divine: The Births of Jesus and Other Sons of God.
The Robert F. Berkey ’52 Endowed Lectureship was created by a bequest from the Rev. Dr. Clarence T. Gilham in honor of his friend Dr. Robert F. Berkey ’52. This is the second annual lecture.
