Westerville, OH—Otterbein University’s Center for Community Engagement and environmental club, Plan-It Earth, are collecting worn-out and unwanted tennis shoes for the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe program. The goal is to collect 500 pairs before Friday, March 30. Members of the public can drop off any brand of shoes in the collection box from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily in the lounge of the Campus Center, 100 W. Home St.
The Nike Reuse-a-Shoe program recycles old shoes to make its Nike Grind products, including Nike Grind Rubber for track and playground surfaces, Nike Grind Foam for the cushion layer of outdoor basketball and tennis courts, and Nike Grind Fiber for the cushion layer of indoor synthetic and wood courts.
