Humor in Music Festival- Humorous Music for Serious Times

Composer Jon Deak

Otterbein’s Department of Music, under the auspices of the University’s Enrichment Series will present a music festival focused on works which involve humor, satire or cultural commentary March 27-April 1, 2014. Everyone needs a good laugh- it is therapeutic! Please join us to share in the fun as Classical music laughs at itself. Jon Deak joins us as featured guest composer. Formerly Assistant Principal Bass of the New York Philharmonic, Mr. Deak’s compositions often explore the relationships of text and words, theatricality in music and music as performance art. Faculty and students will perform humorous works selected from a regional call for scores. This festival is certain to delight classical music lovers, as well as skeptics.

All of the Festival events, except for the Westerville Symphony concert on March 29, are free and open to the public, and appropriate for young audiences.*

*See the Westerville Symphony website for ticket information.
