American Idol Coach to Visit Otterbein

Debra Byrd, vocal coach and arranger for American Idol, will be on campus Nov. 19-22 to see Otterbein's production of Carnival! and work with theatre students and faculty during their classes, as well as a master class for seniors. Read more.

2011 Tom Killen Memorial Award

Music Theatre of Connecticut (MTC), co-founded in 1987 by Otterbein alumnus Jim Schilling ’79, has been awarded the 2011 Tom Killen Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Connecticut Professional Theatre by the Connecticut Critics’ Circle (CCC). This award is the CCC’s most prestigious, and is awarded to those who have made extraordinary contributions to Connecticut’s Equity professional theatre. MTC produces an annual series of Equity productions featuring New York professionals (MTC Mainstage), five annual student productions, and a conservatory-style school of performing arts for students ages four through high school, including the nationally recognized College-Bound in the Performing Arts program for performance career-focused high school students.
