Men's Golf Captures OAC Championship

Otterbein University men’s golf captured Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships title Sunday afternoon, posting a four-day total of 1,213 to hold off the University of Mount Union by 11 strokes.

The tournament win is Otterbein’s third in the last four years, and tenth since 2000. As a result, the Cardinals earn the conference’s automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Division III Championships May 15-18 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Softball Clinches OAC Tournament Berth

The Cardinals clinched their first appearance in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament since 2006 with a sweep of Capital University, winning 6-1 in game one and 6-3 in game two.

Otterbein University concludes their 2012 regular-season with a 26-14 overall record and an 11-7 mark in the OAC. The 26 wins are the most in program history and unseats the 2007 and 2011 teams that finished with 23 wins. Meanwhile, the Crusaders finish their season at 21-17 overall, 6-10 in the conference.

The Cardinals will join Ohio Northern University, John Carroll University, and the University of Mount Union in the OAC Tournament. Otterbein will open the double-elimination tournament with John Carroll on Saturday, May 5.

Men's Tennis Clinches No. 3 Seed in OAC

The Otterbein University men’s tennis team wrapped up their 2011-12 regular season with a pair of victories over Muskingum University and Capital University.

The Cardinals shutout Muskingum 8-0 Thursday before they knocked off Capital 6-3 on Sunday afternoon.

With the two victories, Otterbein concludes their 2011-12 regular season with a 9-10 overall record. Their 7-2 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) has earned them the No. 3 seed in the OAC Tournament.

Dawn Stewart Select Athletic Director

Dawn Stewart, a 1998 graduate of Otterbein University, was named director of athletics, announced Vice President and Dean for Student Affairs Robert Gatti, who chaired the 11-member selection committee. The committee conducted a national search that netted over 100 applicants vying for the position.

Stewart, 35, comes to Otterbein from Capital University where she has served as athletic director since June 2008. She will assume her new position May 7, replacing Dick Reynolds, who retired in March after 43 years of service to the university.
