Parents
We'll be here to support your student every step of the way.
If you’re here, you must have a son or daughter at Otterbein University, who is engaged in the career development process. We are here to help your student (and alumni) sort out their career choices and make decisions that lead to productive, fulfilling lives.
Each year, students take the initiative to schedule individual career counseling appointments, attend career programs, submit resumes for critiquing, and take advantage of our resources to achieve their career goals.
We are knowledgeable about a wide range of careers and can help your student prepare to be a strong candidate by teaching him or her job search skills, and helping him or her to make connections with potential employers. With our help, your son or daughter can:
- Select a career path based on their interests, skills and values;
- Explore and research career options related to their major;
- Gain skills through career-related experiences such as internships, part-time or summer jobs, career programs, volunteer activities and service learning; and
- Develop effective job search marketing materials and a plan to pursue career opportunities.
Your student should begin their career planning during their first year at Otterbein, and continue their career activities and research throughout their college career and beyond.
