What Your Student Should Do First

Activate his/her network account
Your student has a network account to access all Otterbein resources, webmail and free use of Microsoft Office 365 including free Office downloads! See Account Activation for directions on accessing these accounts.

Explore My O-Zone
My O-Zone is your student's personal portal to Otterbein's intranet. They will have access to many campus resources from this single web portal.

Log on to email
Everyone in the Otterbein community is issued an email account. Your student's email account is the only email address the university uses for official communication. Email setup for smartphone.

Using Computers on Campus

Prohibited Activities
Downloading copyrighted material is prohibited. Students should be informed and legal. See What is the Download?

Students accepted the Responsible Use Policy when they activated their account.

Using the Computer Labs
Otterbein provides computer labs located around campus. See where they are and what services and software they provide.

Printing in the Labs

Students receive 600 free black and white copies per semester and 150 free black and white copies during Cardinal and May terms. Color copies can be emailed to copycenter@otterbein.edu and picked up for a charge of $.06 per copy at the Copy Center located in the basement of Towers Hall. To print from a personal computer over WiFi instead of using a lab printer, students can find instruction here.

Residence Hall Internet Connections
The residence halls allow for both physical and wireless internet connections. Learn how your student should prepare their computer, connect and surf safely.

Wireless Networking
Learn how your student can join their computer or Internet device to Otterbein's wireless network. Otterbein user account required.

How do I prepare my current computer or what should I know if I am in the market to buy a computer?

Do I need to bring a personal printer to campus?
No. Free black and white printing services are available in public labs and at the Library. Bringing a personal printer is optional and a personal choice.

Other Technology Resources

My O-Zone
Ozone is the Otterbein campus portal to other on-line technology resources. Ozone features information on items such as campus news, events, campus jobs, meal plan balance, and an A-Z index to connect with all things Otterbein. Logon is username and network password.

Self-Service Banner
Self Service Banner is the information and data services system for Otterbein. Students and employees can handle all business and learning services on-line. Students can register for classes, do a degree audit, pay bills, check grades, look up schedule, etc... Logon directly via the Resources link on Otterbein's main page with your ID number and PIN (e.g. ID: A12345678, PIN: 123456) OR simply logon to Ozone and select Banner from the left menu bar. Allowing pop-ups for Banner will log you right into Ozone with single sign-on! See the tutorials in the Help/Support menu item in the top menu bar of Ozone for more information on pop-ups and how to navigate Ozone's site. 

Blackboard
Blackboard is Otterbein's eLearning system. Use the free Firefox Internet browsers for compatibility with all Blackboard's features. Download and install the mobile apps for Blackboard. For students search your app store for "Blackboard" to learn on the go!

Blackboard Collaborate
Blackboard Collaborate is an outside the classroom on-line meeting tool. Connect via Blackboard or download the "Blackboard Collaborate Mobile" app.

ePortfolio
eportfolio is Otterbein's portfolio web tool for students to document, showcase, reflect, create an on-line resume, and collaborate work with others.

Outlook Email
Otterbein features Outlook email at http://mail.otterbein.edu or from a link in Ozone. Logon is your username@otterbein.edu and your network password. For more information about use of Outlook email, see full details at www.otterbein.edu/its/email

Free Microsoft Office and Windows 10
Get Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365 and Windows 10 FREE from Otterbein. See our website for Free Office 365, www.otterbein.edu/its/office365. Students receive 1TB of free storage with their Office 365 account. Get free Windows 10 from https://otterbeinu.onthehub.com with your Otterbein email username and password.

Google Apps
Campus is transitioning away from Google and recommends Microsoft Office 365. Google Apps logon is http://accounts.google.com. You can activate your Google account by typing in your username@otterbein.edu. The first time you log in, your password is your Otterbein ID without the preceding “A.” Just use the eight numbers of your ID. You will then be prompted to create a unique password. For your convenience, make your Google password the same as your network password, so you only have to remember one Otterbein password. If forgotten, this password cannot be reset by you and will require the ITS Help Desk to reset.

Download "Otterbein" to have favorite campus applications, news, events, directories, dining menus, courses, athletic news, academic calendar, and more at a tap away!

Training

Cardinal Skills Builder
Cardinal Skills Builder is a training program for students to learn more about the use of Otterbein's software and technology systems. For more information, students can visit the Training section via logon to Ozone and navigation to ITS from the Resources menu in the top navigation bar. Students can request support by contacting the ITS Help Desk. The Cardinal Skills Builder Center is located in Roush, Room 004 for sessions.

Hoonuit
Hoonuit is a free 24/7 online training service for Otterbein enrolled students. students will have access to training videos on a host of subjects ranging from Otterbein's software programs to helpful tips for college students in study habits, collaborating in teamwork, and college experience and beyond. For training support questions on Hoonuit's service, email helpdesk@otterbein.edu.
