Post-Masters Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate

Advanced Practice

The FNP major prepares the graduate to assume a role as an advanced practice nurse. The coursework prepares the student to sit for a National Certification Exam to become a family nurse practitioner (Otterbein has consistently achieved an exceptional FNP pass rate).

The curriculum is designed with a core online component, and a science core comprised of advanced health assessment, advanced pharmacology and advanced pathophysiology. The clinical component is comprised of courses in wellness, acute/common illnesses, complex/chronic illnesses for adult, women and child populations. Clinical courses (600 clinical hours) are precepted by a nurse practitioner or physician arranged by the student in collaboration with nursing faculty.
